THE TOWN CLERK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- Taking minutes of all open and closed (Executive Session) meetings of the Board of Trustees;
- Preparing agendas, securing tape recordings of closed meetings, and performing accounting duties;
- Executing all documents required by law and affixing the Township Clerk’s seal to those documents when required;
- Advocating for open and transparent government and ensuring the Township follows the laws pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act.
Annual Town Meeting & Annual Town Meeting of the Board of Town Trustees
The Board of Town Trustees holds an Annual Town Meeting and an Annual Board Meeting on the second Tuesday in April each year except when the date falls during Passover. The Town Board meets on a monthly basis, generally the 2nd Tuesday of the month in conjunction with the Peoria City Council meeting to review and approve month anticipated and actual expenditures along with any other Town business deemed necessary. The Town Board can also meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month, if needed, in conjunction with the Peoria City Council. Proper notice is provided when a Joint Meeting is held.
Freedom of Information Request Contact
The Town Clerk is the contact person for any Freedom of Information (FOIA) Requests made by citizens. To submit an FOIA request for records, please send an email to starr@peoriagov.org or send a written letter listing the following information:
- Requester’s name, email address or mailing address (including zip code);
- List of records being requested to receive or inspect; and,
- Start and end date for which records are being sought.
A FOIA form can also be requested by calling (309) 494-8565 and a form can be mailed, emailed, picked up, or faxed. The FOIA request form is also available on the Downloads Page.

Replies will be sent within five (5) business days in most cases. A five (5) day extension may be requested under certain circumstances, but the requestor will be notified in advance. Copy costs are 10 cents a page after the first fifty (50) pages. The first fifty (50) pages are free. Documents received electronically are free.
